Lactation Services

What Makes Us Different

Breastfeeding and lactation wellness go well beyond whether a baby can latch or not. Postpartum nutrition, support systems, understanding biologically normal sleep and feeding patterns, and the overall health and well-being of mother and infant greatly affect breastfeeding outcomes. When needed, Liz will order and assess blood panels, such as hormone levels & thyroid function, as well as nutritional status through HTMA (hair tissue mineral analysis). She is especially passionate about helping mothers move from a depleted state to feeling more replenished and energized. As a nurse practitioner, she is able to provide diagnoses such as mastitis or tongue ties, and can provide any necessary treatment or referrals.

Chiropractic Annapolis MD Liz Scheuerman Nurse Practitioner

Breastfeeding Consultations

If breastfeeding isn’t going as well as you hoped, or you would just like some reassurance, Liz can meet with you and your baby in our Annapolis office for a 75 minute lactation visit. She will address any breastfeeding concerns you may have, do a thorough exam on both baby and mom, observe a breastfeeding session, and help you come up with a plan to meet your breastfeeding goals, whatever they are.

Pumping Consultations

Whether you are preparing to go back to work or just need help navigating how to use your breast pump, Liz can help you with the ins and outs of pumping technique & frequency, proper pump flange size, and breast milk storage.

Prenatal Consultations

Preparing for breastfeeding and establishing a relationship with a lactation consultant prior to birth will help you navigate through all of the conflicting breastfeeding information new families are faced with these days and give you an opportunity to address any concerns you may have. Prenatal consultations are offered at any stage of pregnancy but are generally recommended between 28 and 36 weeks.
